It Feels Like Winter Has Arrived
I guess it would be remiss of me. To let today go by without commenting on the outcome of the US presidental elections. Everyone has an opinions about it, including me.
This was not the verdict I’d hoped for. Today I feel disheartened. I’m disappointed that Trump is the new president of the United States. There are obvious critiques that have already been well reported . They refer to his deficiencies in political experience and foreign policy stand. Also to his lack of concern about issues of equality and suffering which are valid and convincing. But, most upsetting is that an morally impoverished individual is the new figure head for democracy in democracy and freedom in the US. How America has gone from the protection, hope and inspiration that was the Obama presidency, to Trump is incredible. God help us all and especially America.
The situation feels hopeless today. But, I know that like the seasons ,Trump’s political influence will come to pass. Everything comes and goes in life. Nothing is fixed. I only hope that he and his followers do not leave behind a trail of destruction.
In the meantime, I want to share this extract with you that I hope will comfort you during this dark winter spell:
“In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times.”
And he’s a little singing about the election outcome which will surely lift your spirits:
